This is the fifth edition of the Swiss medical technology industry (SMTI) Sector Study. The SMTI Sector Study is the most comprehensive industry survey and report on the Swiss medtech industry. It is based on the results of a wide survey and has been compiled every two years since 2008. This year, a total of 344 manufacturers, suppliers, specialized service providers, and trading enterprises from all regions of the country participated in the survey. The SMTI 2016 Sector Study was created through close collaboration between Medical Cluster and the Helbling Group and was guided by an expert advisory committee. The study covers the whole Swiss medtech industry value chain. Based on business-based data, it presents – among other things – which strengths, weaknesses, and trends shape this industry and its position in the Swiss workplace. The aim of the report is to highlight the economic significance of the entire industry and to provide an overview of current challenges, areas of activity, and future development.
